Dawa Nurbu is a determined and courageous 14-year-old currently studying in Class 8 at Shree Pema Chholing Ghyang Basic School in Nakote, Nepal. He comes from the village of Sarkathali in the Helambu region and has faced profound challenges from a young age. After losing his mother early in life, Dawa now lives with his father and four siblings. His father works as a small-scale farmer, doing everything he can to support his large family—but his income barely covers the basics, let alone school fees for five children.

Dawa’s daily life is full of obstacles. His family lives in very modest conditions, and financial hardship is constant. Each day, he walks three hours through the mountains to school and back home—and yet, he never complains. His dedication is unwavering, and his desire to learn remains strong.

A scholarship would be truly life-changing for Dawa. It would allow him to move into the school hostel, eliminating the long and exhausting walk and giving him a safe, stable environment to focus on his studies. It would also lift a heavy burden from his father, who struggles each day to keep the family afloat.

Dawa dreams of one day joining the army. He is inspired by the discipline, honor, and courage of soldiers, and hopes to serve his country and protect those who are vulnerable.
